 Friends provides financial support for the Court’s Adoption Day celebration. The annual ceremony, held at the D.C. Superior Court on the Saturday before Thanksgiving, recognizes all children who have been adopted in the past year and is designed to celebrate adoption and to encourage residents to consider adopting or fostering a child in the city’s child welfare system. A judge finalized twenty adoption decrees during this past year’s event. The ceremony is followed by food, festivities and entertainment for children and their adoptive families.
